Today was a short day! After a sleep in and breakfast at our accommodation, we set out to dip our toes in the Ligurian Sea, just 5km away at Marina di Massa. There were footpaths all the way and a lovely stroll along the river Frigido to take us into Marina di Massa. This stretch of the Tuscan coastline is mainly taken up with beach clubs but we found a public section of the beach and even some public toilets!
The water was very refreshing and there were quite a few enjoying the sea. It was great looking over the colourful beach umbrellas to the marble mountains in the background.
After our dip, we had a regional speciality for lunch - seafood soup - before heading back the same way to our accommodation for an afternoon nap.
